We still are not sure about the sexes of the pair. Tater has started crowing like dad, so all signs point to a rooster. I am still holding out some hope for Pancake. She (pretty please) hasn't been crowing, and seems to not be as large as Tater. From all the pictures...

I got to say, these are some fine looking birds. I must really not understand chicken genetics, because they look NOTHING like their parents.

The chicks soon outgrew their boxes and needed to leave the laundry room for the great outdoors. Cleaned up and rebuilt the second coop and built a nice secure pen for the six-week old chicks, or should I say teenagers.

We started with 21 eggs. After 21 days, we had 2 chicks hatch. I guess Snowy was doing his job. From my basic math skills and my research, I figured that there were less that 5 eggs in the batch fresh enough to hatch. So I figure 2 out of 5 ain't too bad for a first...
